Soy wax, stones, and light — what the candle reveals

The ritual: choosing to make everyday gestures more beautiful

I believe the most beautiful objects are the ones that accompany moments. The ones we light without any particular occasion. And the ones we eventually associate with memories.

A candle is one of those objects.

I imagine it at the centre of an impromptu gathering with friends, as glasses slowly fill and the light begins to soften. I imagine it offered as a housewarming gift, placed on a table instead of the bottle of wine we usually bring. An object given to accompany a home that is just beginning.

I imagine it, too, on a quieter Sunday. An open book. The evening light. A few pages turning slowly. And a flame accompanying the silence.

The material that accompanies

MIYA candles are handcrafted in France using natural soy wax. A material that burns more cleanly and gently accompanies the diffusion of fragrance.

The scent does not impose itself. It settles slowly. Like a presence inhabiting the space.

Some creations remain on display even when unlit. The 1.6 kg signature candle is one of them. Placed on a console, a large table or a sideboard, it becomes an object to contemplate.

The matte glass absorbs light rather than reflecting it. Deep black, rich burgundy, mineral white… each shade creates an atmosphere even before the flame exists.

What warmth reveals

Then comes the moment it is lit.

The wax melts slowly. The semi-precious stones, embedded during the making process, gradually appear, revealed by the warmth.

The fragrance settles.

The material evolves.

The object is no longer quite the same as it was at the beginning.

A moment of your own

I like the idea that a candle can be more than a fragrance. That it can accompany a gathering, a gift, a housewarming or simply a moment to oneself.

Because perhaps rituals are simply that.

Simple gestures we choose to make more beautiful.
